Gary Young was the founder of Hayseed Mostly Bluegrass Festival, which started in 1978 in Franconia, New Hampshire. The festival became one of New England’s notable bluegrass gatherings and ran for many years. Launched in 1978 in downtown Franconia, NH (off Route 116), the Hayseed Mostly Bluegrass Festival was a beloved annual summer tradition. Created by local organizers including Joel Peabody, Brad Parker, and Gary Young, the event ran until 1994 and successfully raised money to purchase a rescue vehicle for the Franconia Life Squad.
